You may have heard about the My House of Memories app, which we co-created with and for people living with dementia as a conversational tool. The app is bit like a mini-museum in your pocket which is filled with everyday objects from the past, brought to life with sound effects and evocative music.

September is World Alzheimer’s Month, an international campaign to raise awareness and challenge the stigma that surrounds dementia.
We’ve put together five reasons why creating a memory tree poster is a great activity to mark World Alzheimer’s Month.

As part of their ongoing commitment to corporate social responsibility, Barnett Waddingham staff have recently given their time to support people living with dementia using House of Memories resources.
The team of eight staff volunteers from the Liverpool office hosted a tea party at the Museum of Liverpool, inviting a group from Everton in the Community to participate in House of Memories activities.
National Museums Liverpool to launch House of Memories in the US to help Americans to live well with dementia

National Museums Liverpool is delighted to partner with the Minnesota Historical Society, to launch the US version of our award-winning House of Memories dementia awareness programme on 24 September 2018, to help Americans to live well with dementia.

For the summer of 2018, House of Memories has developed a new range of seasonal ‘Sense of Summer’ memory baskets to enable carers and people living with dementia to enjoy sharing summer time memories together, and to stimulate communication about the past.
The items in the ‘Sense of Summer’ memory baskets have been inspired by the great outdoors in the summertime, bringing together items related to gardening, home-grown produce and summer picnics.
Inside the baskets, there are objects for reminiscence, garden-themed activities, and information about planning gardening and outdoors projects to improve the health and wellbeing of people living with dementia.

In early June, House of Memories packed its bags and travelled north to Inverness to deliver its first ever dementia awareness training session in Scotland.
National Museums Liverpool worked closely with High Life Highland and members of the Highland Museums Forum to take the innovative programme to Scotland to coincide with Dementia Awareness Week (4-10 June 2018). The project is funded by High Life Highland, Museums Galleries Scotland and Brabners LLP.

21 – 27 May is Dementia Action Week. Alzheimer’s Society is calling on everyone to come together and take actions big or small to improve the everyday lives of people affected by dementia.
In the UK, one person develops dementia every three minutes, yet too many face the condition alone and are excluded from society. More than 850,000 people are living with dementia in the UK and 670,000 are acting as primary carers.
We stand together with Alzheimer’s Society in their determination to create a dementia-friendly UK where people with dementia are included and supported to live the lives they want.
Our award-winning House of Memories dementia awareness programme has provided training and resources to more than 12,000 health and social care professionals and families across the UK.
